ALL INDIA BAR EXAMINATION (AIBE) GUIDE

By: Dr. S.M. Rajan and Dr. P.K. Jain

ABOUT THE BOOK

All Law Students graduating from academic year 2009-2010 and onwards are mandatorily required to undergo the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) conducted by the Bar Council of India (BCI) in order to practice law in India. As the AIBE has been an ‘Open Book’ examination, the candidates have felt a dire need of a suitable guide containing the relevant preparatory materials, which they can carry with them to the examination hall. The emphasis throughout is on assessing an advocate’s understanding of an area of law, rather than on the ability to memorize large texts or rules from different areas of law.

Accordingly, this guide was specifically designed to meet the requirements adequately as the ambit of the options available on multiple-choice questions has been widened in order to provide an examine a deep insight and understanding of various legal subjects concerning substantive and procedural laws.

The knowledge and reasoning based questions contained in the guide presents a systematic and in-depth treatment of various Acts in a concise, lucid and illustrative manner using several principles of law and studies of relevant case laws with a view to make it more intelligible, comprehensive and easy to understand.

Although the guide is primarily designed to serve the needs of examinees who are appearing for AlBE, it would equally be useful to those pursuing professional courses, besides meeting the growing needs of aspirants preparing for competitive examinations.
